Answer (Question
9) : No.The illustrator and author and both
recognised as individual creatos in the production of the book.
The illustration and
the writing processes are usually done quite separately and the
author rarely dictates to the author what they would like the
book to look like (something many people are not aware of).
The
purpose of illustration is to also tell a story (through imagery)
It is not only used to simply reiterate or describe what is already
in the text. It should add a new dimension to the book which
is not there in the writing.
A picture book is
most successful when the two art forms work dynamically together
to create a new individual piece (the finished book).
