Answer (Question
1) : I have always loved
to write and draw from as far back as I can remember.
I
also had a family who encouraged me to read and enjoy books which
I think was my most important influence to becoming a children's
book creator, myself.
When
I was very young, I assumed authors wrote the words AND did all
the pictures too! But then I discovered
though that usually you just do either the story or the pictures
and not both.
When
I found this out, I couldn't imagine not being able to do both
and I wondered how I could.
I also
found out that if you want to become an illustrator, you have
a better chance of being able to do this if you have some training,
so as soon as I left school I studied at university to be an
illustrator.
I
first began working as an illustrator by illustrating other peoples
stories, which I still enjoy, because I dont really mind whos
story I illustrate as long as I like it!
I
now am fortunate though to be doing exactly the thing I hoped
- to write and illustrate my own books at the same time!
