Deidre But-Husaim merges traditional oil painting with contemporary digital
process, this integration reflects the complexity of our own personal
ideas of beauty.
The viewer is cast as voyeur and challenged by But-Husaim’s aesthetic
of the usual and unusual; that which is accepted and that which is prejudiced.
While her meticulously painted figures retain their beauty and sexual
suggestion they address serious themes such as genetic engineering, body
modification, and the exploration of female desire.
