General Information

The Phonograph Society of South Australia is a non-profit-making organization of enthusiasts whose principal aims are the collection, restoration and preservation of the historical artifacts of sound recording and reproduction; and research into their evolution.  Many of our members also have interests in the development of wireless, telephones, mechanical music and other fields relating to sound.  Particular attention to South Australian contributions is encouraged.

Society meetings are held on the SECOND FRIDAY OF THE MONTH, at 8.00pm in the clubrooms at the Community Hall, 31 Beulah Road, Norwood, South Australia.

Membership

Membership entitles the holder to attend the monthly meeting of the Society; receive the Society's Newsletter; receive discounts on books and other items sold by the Society; participate in all the Society's activities; and to use the Society's lending library.  The subscription is $20.00 AUD per annum for Australian members; for New Zealand and South East Asian members the fee is $28; $32 AUD for members in USA or Europe.  Payment by Mastercard or Visa is accepted - cheques drawn on Australian banks are also acceptable.

Auctions

An auction is held at each meeting, all financial members are entitled to bid at auctions and can do so by attending, by phoning or emailing bids  or by posting your bid.  Members of the public are welcome to submit items for auction, a commission of 10% will be charged.

Newsletter

There are 11 newsletters published per year, these are posted to all members by airmail.  The Newsletter contains articles, information and the auction list for the forthcoming meeting.  Members are invited to submit articles and Letters to the Editor for publication in the Newsletter.
