Taize Liturgy

(From live interview as part of the Parish Renewal Programme May 2001)

The Taize Liturgy originated in Taize in France. It is a non-denominational prayer service around the Cross, and is held at 7.30pm in St Ignatius Church on the fourth Friday of each month except for December and January. The Liturgy is held in the Sanctuary looking west down the Nave of the Church and includes quiet periods for meditation or reflection, singing and a homily and laying on of hands by Fr John Sutherland. The number that attend varies fairly widely from say a dozen to perhaps 40. You don’t have to join and all are welcome. Similar Liturgies are held in other  Churches.
