CARE GROUP(From live interview as part of the Parish Renewal Programme May 2001) This group commenced as the result of the ‘Time and Talent’ survey that was part of the previous Thanksgiving Program, some three years ago. It comprises about 20 parishioners who take the Eucharist to people in nursing homes, hospitals and private homes. The group hears from those wishing to take Holy Communion from the Parish Office, from friends and by enquiries at hospitals and nursing homes to locate catholics who may wish to take Communion.. It typically involves one to two hours on one day of each week, at a time of convenience. Each member of the Group has a fixed group of people to visit, and new requests for Communion are allocated by Diana Herd. Diana suggested that a short talk about the homily last Sunday, followed by a prayer or two such as the Lord’s Prayer, was a suitable way of administering Communion. Those visited are grateful. More members would be welcome, and could allow the Group to extend its services to include such activities as reading to the sick and lonely. Enquiries: Diana Herd 8332-2696 |
