Message from the new 2008 Parish Pastoral Council
The newly formed Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) recently spent time considering and reflecting on the theme of ‘listening’. PPC members have agreed it is of great importance to consider ways we can connect with each other within our parish, and how we might strengthen the many wonderful connections that already exist between individuals, families, groups and gatherings that make up our rich parish community. We have asked ourselves questions such as: · Who are we listening to? · How are we listening? · What are we listening for? In the coming weeks and months, PPC members will make connections with parish groups and offer themselves as a link person between the group and the PPC. We are keen to support our parish groups in the work and service they provide on behalf of our parish. We also intend to plan other ways we can build up the connections within the parish. We want to listen, communicate, engage in conversation and be present wherever and however we can during 2008. We invite you to consider how you might join with us in conversations about our parish community, how we can build on the strengths in our community and what we might do to tackle any challenges we face. Shortly, the parish website will and already the Church notice boards have displayed photos and biographies of current PPC members who can be easily identified by yellow name tags at Mass and parish functions. We would be chuffed if you introduced yourself and said hello some time soon, and even more elated if you wanted to share a thought or two about how you see our parish community progressing.
