Z.BRUDERHANS STARRED IN PRAGUE

...already as a young player, Bruderhans shined as a sovereign master of flute; today it is possible to say that his art has not lost anything from its brilliant virtuosity, but has gained maturity which, together with his wide range of expressions and tonal finesses allows him to display the unexpected beauty of music. His revelational rendering of Four Partitas by Rychlík and Flute sonata by Feld became for the audiences a "festival of joy" - a rare experience.

FLUTIST WOWS AUDIENCES WITH SENSITIVE STYLE...Bruderhans is an excellent player..... a program of this sort has a built-in potential for monothony. It is to Bruderhans' credit that he avoided this pitfall by the sensitivity of his playing and the unfailingly pleasant quality of tone...

DISCOGRAPHY REVIEWS

Zdenek Bruderhans is an exceptionally gifted flautist, a master of the circular Breathing technique….a delightful programme of miniatures from across the centuries and two very interesting contemporary works fro Czech composers Petr Eben and Jan Klusák…. the flute is such a life-enhancing instrument with an almost magical sound which can often sound other-worldly… This is a joyous disc and Arbitrium Records are to be congratulated for giving the public the chance to hear what the flute can achieve…
[musicwebb-international, Classical CD reviews, December 2006 on …AT NORTH TERRACE]

The programme opens with a trio of major works that should be in any professional flautist’s repertoire…Syrinx is beguilingly played by Bruderhans, bringing out much of the mystery that Debussy suggests in his writing ..Berio’s Sequenza I is without doubt the other seminal work included here. Bruderhans finds a less aggressive tone than some soloists in his playing. In my view the piece is all the more effective for it, as it does every inference of light and shade or reduced scale that find its way into his playing. This is a well-recorded disc that showcase the talent of a highly accomplished flautist.

Bruderhans demonstrated a sound rich in colours and expression, a masterly virtuosity and fantasy in an individual interpretation of each work... truly representative and artistic performances were permanently recorded...

FLUTE THROUGH THE AGES [Flute Antholoy Vol I & II]..Bruderhans brings a cool, fluent elegance to Bach' Parrtita and Sonata in a by C.PE.Bach....Bruderhans' approach represents the triumph of art over the practical limitations of the human frame.... [Dr. E. Robertson, Adelaide, The Advertiser 1979]

BRINGING TELEMANN TO ADELAIDE [Flute Anthology Vol III] The clarity of Mr Bruderhans' cool flute tone, free from the wide vibrato characteristics of Galway's romantic style, appears eminently suitable for classical performance. And in these pieces - his pellucid style attains variety mainly through a range of dynamics [including some delicate graduations of pianissimo tone], an occasional note of penetrating color, sharp or instant attack, and taste in phrasing and delicate ornamentation...... [Dr. E. Robertson, Adelaide, The Advertiser, 1980]
