

While the 300kw C4B engine is a dramatic step up over the conventional 220 - 235kw LS1, it can still be improved upon. Initially this car made 218rwkw, with rich fuel mixtures and poor ignition timing calibration. After an LS1 EDIT FULL TUNE that figure rose to a healthy 241rwkw. Still, for some thats just not enough.
With the customer chasing a genuine 380 - 400kw at the crank we fitted a custom 228 degree Crane camshaft, and then replaced the roughly ported C4B heads with a set of big valve, ported SQP heads. We retained the restrictive (at this power level) stock HSV airbox assembly, used Dough Boy 4 into 1 shorty headers, and an off the shelf Dough Boy exhaust. More than anything the completed package had to both look and sound almost stock. Once bolted up hours of Custom Tuning then followed, but the rear wheel power gain, of a massive 23% was well worth it.
