Take Bus from Adelaide to
Hackham. Route 722 will take you to the Penny's Hill Road, States Road intersection then hike east 4km along Penny's Hill
Road and Piggott Range Road to Onkaparinga River Recreation Park, access the park via the Gate 6
track entrance. Continue to Douglas Scrub via Onkaparinga Gorge (several routes).
From Gate 6 of the Onkaparinga Gorge, (Onkaparinga River National Park) and
Manning Reserve. Route One.
Distance: 12 kms.
Time: minimum of four hours plus breaks.
Route detail: From Gate 6 at the Onkaparinga River National Park follow the well defined 'Sundews Track' (4WD) south
along spur into the Onkaparinga Gorge. Cross creek and follow the steep track out of the gorge.
Cross Chapel Hill Road to gate 14 of the Onkaparinga River National Park. Follow the Wine Dam
(4WD) track. Turn right at Whitings Road, follow the road until you arrive at the corner of
Kay's Road. Here you could take a detour into Manning Reserve on the south-west corner,
then follow dirt track south east. When you reach Blewitt Springs road turn left, at Douglas
Scrub corner follow Douglas Gully Road to the main entrance.Route Two.
From Gate 6 of the Onkaparinga Gorge via extended route east along Onkaparinga Gorge (Onkaparinga
River National Park) and Blewitt Springs.
Distance: 15.5 km.
Time: allow minimum six hours
plus breaks.
Route detail: From Gate 6 follow the well defined 'Sundews Track' (4WD) south along spur into the
Onkaparinga Gorge. At the river crossing turn upstream (east) and follow the gorge 2 or 3 km.
The route is very rocky. Exit the gorge at spurline/s shown on Noarlunga 1:50,000 map.
Ensure you do not cross private land marked. Exit park at Gate 10 carpark located at Chapel
Hill Road. From the carpark turn south to Blewitt Springs. Follow Blewitt Springs Road
south until you reach Douglas Scrub, turn left on Douglas Gully Road to main entrance.

WARNING: Before your hike contact Mt.Bold Reservoir to ensure water from the reservoir is not being released, in this event crossing the Onkaparinga River is impossible.
