Did you know
God loves you?
People’s lives are often in a crazy state.
We have all done things we regret.
It’s called sin. God knows it and has put in place a plan to help. Listen to what God says of Himself in the Bible says: “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, that who ever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.” (Found in the New Testament in the Gospel of John, chapter 3, verse 16).
That verse says, that even though we have done wrong things (sin) which should result in God’s condemnation - which means being sent to hell - God’s plan makes it possible for us to be forgiven. Listen again to the the words in the New Testament: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Found in a New Testament letter named Romans, chapter 2 verse 23) and again “As many as received Jesus, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.” (That is from verse 12 in the Gospel of John, the first chapter).
The purpose of Jesus coming to earth and dying on the cross was that He took the punishment for our sin. Jesus in rising from the dead shows that God accepted Jesus' death as a sufficient sacrifice for our sin. Listen again to the Bible: “Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried and that He rose again according to the Scriptures” (Found in the first New Testament letter to the Corinthians in chapter 15 verses 3-4).
What is our part in all this if we are to be saved?
We simply need to ask Jesus, the Son of God into our lives as Saviour and trust Him in all things. Jesus says, “Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him and he with Me” (Found in the final book of the Bible named Revelation, chapter 3 verse 20).
“Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord Jesus will be saved” (Romans 10:13)
Why not ask Jesus into your life now, to receive forgiveness for all your sins. Follow Him.
Make your decision to receive Jesus as your Saviour
by praying this prayer with all your heart:
Confessing to God that I am a sinner, and believing
that the Lord Jesus Christ died for my sins on the cross and was raised from the
dead for my justification [God sees me as righteous
i.e. not guilty]. I do now receive and confess Him as my Saviour. Amen.
In doing this you have just taken your first step of faith, but rest assured you now belong to Jesus and are destined for heaven. Listen to what Jesus himself said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him (God) who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, but has passed from death into life” (John 5 : 24)
What are the next steps?
Tell someone what you have done. You can even email us at geedanda@bigpond.com or any other email address in this website of the Kersbrook Church of Christ. Go to telephone Contacts .
If you do not have a Bible or New Testament, get one** then start reading it. Start with the Gospels in the New Testament, either John’s or Mark’s. Read a bit each day. Ask God to help you understand it - that is called praying, talking to God your Father. Pray each day asking for Jesus to help you live right.
Join a church so you have others to help you. Confess your new faith by being baptised. Ask the Elder, (or pastor or minister if there is one available).
Live each day trusting in Jesus, for He is your Lord and Saviour and He promises that after death you will go and live with Him in heaven. Forever. It is called, by Jesus, 'eternal life'.
